This blog post is a shameless appeal to promote my son's fundraising appeal - well, you know we mother's will do anything to help our offspring!
My 18 year old son is a first year student at Sheffield Hallam University (England) studying creative writing. He, along with a group of 19 other students are planning to travel with the charity FutureSense Foundation
to Tanzania to work in a local school for a couple of weeks (decorating the school and teaching drama) and
|My son Matt|
He has to raise £2700 to go on the trip which leaves England on August 11th 2014 for 3 weeks. This is a tall order! He has raised just over a £1000 so far and has many activities planned including running a half-marathon in April, doing a 100 press-up challenge at our karate club, organising a comedy show at his university, doing a 1000 cup-cake challenge, doing an EBay sale and doing odd jobs for people.
I am his campaign manager! This is why I'm using my blog to help promote his fund raising activities - I hope you don't mind :) I feel that without all the help we can muster raising another £1700 is going to be difficult in the time left so I am asking the martial arts community to see if they have any spare pennies or cents in their wallets that they would be willing to donate to Matt's fund on his Just Giving page. My son is a fellow martial artist (brown belt in karate, brown belt in jujitsu and white belt in judo) so you would be helping one of our community to achieve an ambition.
If you feel you can help then please go his Just Giving page to make your donation, he will be so so grateful :) and so will I.
Thank you for even reading this post. I hate asking for money so forgive me if you feel offended by my appeal. If you don't want to donate but have some useful fundraising tips then please leave me a comment.
